Samsung Australia has teamed up with Ethan to develop a tablet solution for seniors.
The solution was originally developed for clients of Catholic Healthcare to improve connectivity with health services and online communication channels, with a view to expanding the program in the future.
As part of stage one, 40 Galaxy Tab A tablets have been provided with preconfigured accessibility settings and sensor-driven analytics to adjust for different levels of digital literacy and physical and cognitive abilities.
The tablets also run communication and networking apps, such as Facebook and Skype, as well as medical content and streaming services.
Ethan will provide ongoing support for the devices to ensure adoption across Catholic Healthcare.
Catholic Healthcare general manager of community services Janis Redford said the solution would support greater independence for seniors and support their day-to-day lives through connectivity.
“This initiative breaks new ground for our industry as it has the power to transform the lifestyles of older Australians through an intuitive, customisable, and easy-to-use experience,” she said.
“We believe this technology to be transformational for the aged care sector as it will allow carers and family members to tailor content to the requirements of the user, either remotely or manually.”
With the Coronavirus pandemic leaving seniors more isolated than almost any other group, Ethan looks forward to expanding this program in the coming years.
